To begin with ask your child to highlight or list the different alternative sounds they spot for ay in the postcard.
These will be:
ay - may I play?
ai - snail in the rain.
a-e - make a cake.
Your children will have learnt the above during our phonic lessons in school. There will also be:
ey
a
eigh
Then read the following words for your child to spell or you may choose to ask them to sort them into the grid provided below.
Handwriting
For handwriting please practise using the words you spelt during Phonics. Please see below for some examples, look carefully at the sizing of the letters and where they sit on the line. The rhymes individual letter formation can be found on the main page.
