To begin with ask your child to highlight or list the different alternative sounds they spot for 'er' in the poem.
These will be:
er - better letter
ir - whirl and twirl
ur - nurse with a purse
Your children will have learnt the above during our phonic lessons in school. There will also be:
ear

Then read the following words to your child for them to spell, selecting which alternative spelling from the list they created.
Handwriting
For handwriting please practise using some of the words you spelt during Phonics. Think carefully at the sizing of the letters and where they sit on the line. The rhymes for individual letter formation can be found on the main page.
