Spelling
Learning to spell accurately is a fundamental skill for developing confident and competent writers. At Holyoakes, children learn to spell through their phonics sessions (please see the phonics web page for more information) and through the teaching of No-Nonsense spelling. We focus on learning and practising the high frequency words as these are the words that children will use most in their writing. These words can be found below.
We believe it is important for children to continue to practise spelling words at home, between 6-8 words is a manageable amount at one time. Your child will know some fun and different ways to practise their words, some examples of these are shown below.
