School council

What is the School Council?

A new school council is elected each year, with every class from Year 1 to Year 4 nominating representatives. This creates a central group that speaks on behalf of the whole school and makes decisions about school life. We value the opinions of our pupils and the School Council gives pupils a forum to share these opinions with the Headteacher and other members of staff.

Mrs Cerrone- School Council Lead

I am very proud to lead our School Council. We have amazing children in our school who have lots of great ideas on how we can work together to make our school even better!  They all work really hard. All of the children join in enthusiastically during our meetings and they like to get involved as much as possible with events and tasks around our school. We have children from year groups across the school as we want to make sure that all children’s voices are heard.  We meet a few times each half term to discuss ideas and events and then each class representatives feeds back to their classes. I am very fortunate to work with a great group of children and I am really excited about what they will achieve in the future for our school!

What we have been doing

The School Council have planned and ran their first event of the year, which was a great success! They organised a 'Pay to play' event where children throughout the school brought in board games to play with their friends. All donations received will be put towards 'Buddy stop' signs for our new playgrounds. The buddy stop is a clever way for children to make friends and it is a meeting point to ensure that everyone has a happy playtime.

Be Bright Be Seen!

As part of our continued work on road safety we organised a special non-uniform event where children were asked to come to school in brightly coloured clothes. This was to help remind us all to wear bright clothing when we are outdoors during the Winter months, so that we are seen and to help keep us safe.
