Read and Understand Mathematical Termonology
Last week, you looked at interpreting and constructing pictograms, so should already have an awareness of collecting data and presenting it in a certain way. This week, you are going to do the same, but with bar charts.
Task: Look at the following ‘STAR words’.
Discrete data, continuous data, bar chart, tally, frequency table, axis, horizontal, vertical, compare
Your task is to:
1. Read the word aloud 4 times (in different voices)
2. Find out what the word means
3. Draw/write an example of each word
Challenge: Within bar charts, will you collect discrete or continuous data?
