Living under the same sky

Our whole school overarching theme for the Summer term is ‘My world and yours’. Year 3 are starting this term with ‘Living under the same sky…’. The children shall be focussing on the books ‘Gregory Cool’ by Caroline Binch, which is set in Tobago in the Caribbean, and ‘Window’ and ‘Mirror’ by Jeannie Baker, which are set in Australia and Morocco.

The children made some Caribbean rainbow slaw. They learned knife skills and enjoyed making it. Some children loved the end result, other's were not so keen!

Year 3 enjoyed having this chicks in class this week.

We have been looking at the book 'Window' by Jeannie Baker. It is a wordless book, but each time you turn the page, two years have passed and the view changes constantly.

From this we have looked at Henri Rousseau's art depicting landscapes, we have tried to recreate his style of art as if we could see it through a window.

Within science we have been learning about our bodies and skeletons.
