In year 3 we have been busy creating our new door displays! We have researched our class tree names and found out lots of facts about them. Do you like our new displays?
A Colourful Problem
Our first book of the year is 'The Day the Crayons Quit' by Drew Daywalt. The book is a collection of letters from the crayons who all have different problems. We have been thinking of ways to help Duncan solve all these problems. We are going to be doing lots of colourful art to put on display.
Art and Displays
We have been learning lots about colour mixing and different shades of colour. As well as fun art lessons, we have been writing letters and postcards in the style of the book!
We have been getting to explore new instruments in music this term and have been learning the importance of beat and pitch. Miss Barke has been helping us to understand 'call and response'- please watch our performance below!
We have been estimating and rounding this week in out Maths lessons. We learnt a new rhyme to help us and used dice and counters to guess different amounts. Can you challenge us to get the closest estimate?
We have also been thinking about the differences and properties of 2D and 3D shapes. We had a go at categorising 2D shapes and a used magnetix and straws to construct 3D shapes.
We have been putting our baking skills to the test to create some delicious lemon crayon biscuits. We have to mix, weigh, juice and roll our cookie dough to make the perfect crayons. We had do much fun making and icing them, but even more fun eating them!
We had a great time at forest school and enjoyed all the different activities!
'Invasion Skills' at Trinity
We had a great, yet cold, morning at Trinity learning some new skills and practicing old skills. We got to take part in Handball, Football and Hockey and play against other local schools. We are looking forward to our next visit!
